When you purchase your hard drives together with our QNAP or Synology NAS units, you gain access to our complimentary preconfiguration service. This value-added offering includes:
1. Initial Setup & Storage System Configuration
- Hard Drive Installation: We physically install the hard drives inside your NAS and ship you the original packaging.

File System Initialization: ZFS/Btrfs or EXT4 whichever is the most suitable for your model

RAID Configuration: We create appropriate RAID arrays based on your NAS:
- RAID 5 for up to 6 bays
- RAID 6 for 6–12 bays
- Multiple RAIDs for higher bay counts
- Volume Creation: We recommend thin volumes for better performance unless thick volumes are specifically requested.
- Snapshots: Enabled by default for data protection unless you request otherwise.
- Firmware Update: Updated to the latest version and patched for security.
2. Network & Power Configuration
- IP Addressing: Default is DHCP. Static IP and custom DNS configured on request.
- Port Bonding / Failover: Configured on request for performance (aggregation) or uptime (failover).
- Power Testing: Device is power cycled twice to prevent DOA issues.
- UPS Integration: Power failure settings configured if UPS is purchased with the NAS.
- Email Notifications: Custom notifications set up on request (SMTP details required).
3. User & Directory Services Configuration
- Active Directory: Final integration done remotely if credentials are provided.
- User Creation: We create users and groups based on a provided Excel sheet.
4. Cloud & Advanced Backup Configuration
- Public Cloud Integration: We configure scheduled backups to services like S3, Dropbox, ElephantDrive (on request).
- Private Cloud Setup: We configure DynDNS (your own or vendor-provided). For non-UPnP routers, port forwarding setup requires router login.
- Remote Replication: Available if two NAS devices are purchased. Replication depends on network path.
5. One Year Free Remote Support
Includes up to 4 TeamViewer sessions and 6 phone support calls per year for common issues. Maximum response time is 2 working days.

Staggered-Age Hard Drives: When available, we use hard drives of different manufacturing batches to reduce the risk of simultaneous drive failure due to identical workload patterns and lifecycle timing.

Burn-In Testing: We can run a 24–48 hour burn-in test on your NAS to simulate load, monitor stability, and ensure long-term reliability before shipping.
