With the QNAP Virtualization Station, you can have multiple virtual machines running any Operating system such as Windows, Linux or Android - ON your NAS. how this is different from any other NAS is that QNAP lets you not only store the VM but also Run the VM on the NAS, using NAS processor and memory.
Management of Virtual Machines
All the Virtual Machines are Managed from your QNAP Admin panel. You can allocate memory, processor cores , storage from the Admin Panel itself.
Operate VMs as Remote Desktops
Your Virtual Machines run as remote desktops. You can access them from your browser itself . A list of buttons is provided on the left side of each individual VM display, allowing users to suspend, shutdown, force shutdown, reset, bring up key combinations (incl. Ctrl+AIt+Del) & function keys, and even take snapshots for the VMs.
Connect USB devices (USB Passthrough)*
The Virtualization Station supports connecting USB devices to VMs. Generic USB devices can be used and you can select which device to be connected to VMs on the VM information page. You Just connect the USB Device to your QNAP's USB port and it is recognized
Dedicated Lan
One Lan card is dedicated to your VM Traffic so your regular traffic is not congested.
HDMI out with QVPC gets you a Full PC Experience
On some Models you can install the QVPC app that lets your view your VM on any display connected to the HDMI port of QNAP. Just add a mouse and keyboard and turn your NAS into a fully functioning PC.
