QNAP gave us a sneak preview of what the QTS 4.2 would look like. Apart from the change in the interface and looks, there are many fundamental additions to the Operating system itself.
- QNAP always has Virtualization station and you could run entire operating system on it. Now they have come up with Container station that takes both Docker and LXC containers. This is by far the most comprehensive VM solution and QNAP is still the only NAS that gives you a full VM environment.
- Local and remote snapshots in the QTS itslef
- Face Detection in Photo Station
- Universal File search
- Direct mount sharing from File Manager.
QTS 4.2 Defines the first biggest change after QTS 4.0 and is expected to be lanuched around August -Sep 2015.
