Seagate ST10000NM001G vs ST10000NM018G

Seagate is transitioning many hard drives from the X16 platform (with 16TB as the highest capacity) to the X18 platform (with 18TB as the highest capacity). 10TB is no exception. The ST10000NM001G of the X16 platform has been discontinued, and the new part number is ST10000NM018G of the X18 platform.

The only difference that can be seen from the datasheet is the transfer rate. Since the X18 is the newer platform, it has a slightly better transfer rate ( 270MB/s vs 245 MB /s Max suistained xfr)

Here are all the new part numbers in tabular form with their short descriptions.

Old Part Number (X16 Platform)

New Part Number (X18 Platform)
